Yesterday my boyfriend Graham, my friend Maryann and I decided to take a “Daycation”. We drove out to Cabazon to visit the dinosaurs. Maryann had never been which was surprising to Graham and I. Maryann is a fan of Pee Wee and they were featured in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and she loves the desert. It just seemed like something she should have gone to. So Graham and I made it our mission to visit the dino’s. The sad part of the trip is that now you need to pay $5 to go into the T-Rex. They added all these mini dino’s behind a wooden fence with a sign that promises a ride on the robot dino. So you need to pay to ride the robot dino and the entrance to T-Rex is behind the fence. So much has gone on these past few days so I thought I would share it with you all. I guess it all started last Wednesday when my brother called me to let me know his wife was going into labor. Later that evening I had to DJ at Shotgun . It was an Outfest after party for film the Affinity. A lesbian prison film set in the late 1800’s. The night was a total blast but I have to say the highlights were playing “Whatta Man” by Salt-N-Pepa while my friend Greg was being dominated on stage. I was trying to make him laugh but he was a good sport and kept in the laughter while being spanked, getting candle wax dripped on him, and having his nipples tugged on. The other highlight of the night was meeting Jay McCarroll of Project Runway fame. Right before closing he requested the B-52’s and I played “Legal Tender”. He danced around and sang along as Nick Verreos and friend sat around and waited. (pictures and the rest of the weekend after the jump) Read the rest of this entry »
“I love this Mexi-Cumbia song. It’s kind of sad how indie/electro music in Mexico right now seems to be going through a sort of hibernation, to put it euphemistically, but Cumbia is totally hot shit and just about the only genre that’s holding my interest in music from Mexico right now.
Hey guys so I am sorry I have been not posting this week. I have been really busy though there is a some really exciting stuff coming up. Like tomorrow a new boy up for the white briefs project. Next week some rad interviews and maybe even later today some fun pics and stories about last night. For now I just want to say how much I love you all check out the video below.
“This ones a real prize from my MIDI collection. Mythological soundtrack covers using MIDI instrumentation which sounded way more advanced than the original yet presently have already fallen far into the void of old. Its like listening to the once futuristic Wendy Carlos Bach covers post Y2K. Overdone or not I love the lineage and amount of covers some of these old NES songs have generated. Like techno folk music of my sisters and brothers. The slow power snares, tone fucked tubular bells, mellon collie church organ and voice oohs with the baritone sax give my spirit a long smooth gentle hug and they hum a reprise for my life and world from childhood to present. Its an always needed rest. You could catch me listening to this one on repeat with doors closed in a dark room at night. Triforce of wisdom represent!”
So this last weekend Outré teamed up with our friends Magnet and threw a party. Outré has been homeless ever since we got thrown out of Pehrspace. The search for a new home has been painstaking though we are trying to bring you the party you all love and miss. So last Saturday we agreed to party with our friends Magnet. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and here that you guys want Outré back. Check out pics of the night by Robbie Bruzus.
P.S. We got a lead on a space and we are checking out soon. Keep your fingers crossed.
I feel like everyone can agree that Dreamboat Annie by Heart is a great album. Though I often feel like Heart’s later stuff like “These Dreams” era gets ignored. I kinda felt the same way for years that any thing from that era was just cheese. Then I saw Heart Live and it was a whole different story. I soon became an addict and needed to hear everything they recorded. In the end I will admit there is some stinkers here and there. But those Wilson sisters can rock and do it so well even after all these years. So here are three of my favorite Heart songs from the later part of their career.
